Deireadh Seachtaine Lán Gaeilge /Irish Language Weekend

Our online Immersion weekend offers classes in Irish language at 5 different levels and workshops in music, dance, and art.   A wonderful mix of talented teachers from Ireland join online learners from coast to coast in Canada and the United States for a weekend of great learning and conversation.  We are excited to connect Irish learners from across North America.

Leibhéil Ranganna / Class Levels

The Irish Language Weekend provides instruction and practice for students at different levels. If you are unsure of your level, please try the TEG-Assessment Quiz. (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge/European Certificate in Irish). Compare your quiz score to these TEG levels to help determine what class level you will register for.

During the weekend, if you feel that you have chosen the wrong class level, you are free to change. Please coordinate this with your teachers or contact the organizers and we can facilitate the change to another class for you.

Level One - Beginner

Very little to no experience with Irish, or a desire to review, starting with basics.

Cuspóra / Goals: Acquire the basics

Level Two TEG level A1

Some experience with Irish, or have completed a beginner class. Able to communicate at a basic level.

Cuspóra / Goals: Improve speaking ability and broaden knowledge of grammar.

Level Three TEG level A2

Can participate in simple conversations in Irish. Class mostly taught in Irish.

Cuspóra / Goals: Improve fluency, increase vocabulary.

Level Four TEG level B1 

Able to converse in Irish but not fluent. Class taught in Irish.

Cuspóra / Goals: Improve fluency

Level Five TEG level B2 and above. 

Fluency in Irish

Cuspóra / Goals: Speak with other fluent speakers and work on the finer points of the language.

Event Schedule: The timing of the event schedule has been chosen to accommodate our Irish friends on both the east and west coasts of Canada and the United States.  We are happy to see that we already have folks from British Columbia and California registered to join us in addition to a number of teachers from Ireland.

Early Booking Discounts:   Early booking discounted price until April 4th is $65 for the full weekend or $40 daily.  The late booking price after April 4th is $75 for the weekend or $45 for the day. Booking early is important as it helps us to arrange instructors and workshop facilitators based on registrants' interests.

Student & Financial Hardship Discounts. University and College students are eligible for a 40% discount.  Please email proof of enrollment at a post-secondary institution to info@harpoftara.com and we will give you a student discount code for your registration.  Please get your discount code prior to completing the registration. Similarly, if you would like to participate in the event but find that the cost of this event will cause financial hardship, send us an email and we will work out a solution to facilitate your participation.
