Traditional Irish Dance

 

Harp of Tara sponsors a broad range of activities and offers a variety of dance opportunities from class settings to social gatherings.  Cumulatively the group offers knowledge in traditional forms of Sets, Ceilis, Séan Nos, as well as Solo dance covering hard and soft shoe. 

 We actively run weekly, monthly, and annual dance related events.

Thursday evenings

Fall/Winter lessons 7:00 - 9:00 pm

(Immediately after the Intermediate language class.)

Taught at a comfortable pace.  Learning traditional dances from Ireland, similar to Canadian square dancing.  

Location: 202 Main St., Kingston.

Summer lessons 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Practicing outdoors under the MacDonald Park waterfront band shelter near the Murney tower.  All are welcome. Dance in the open air, cooled by the offshore breezes of beautiful Lake Ontario.

Tuesdays at the Kingston Seniors Centre

Location:  56 Francis St, Kingston. 

 

(October to May) Lessons are offered during the school year by McGrath School of Irish Dance.  Hard and Soft shoe classes available for all experience levels, open to ages from 4 yrs. to adult.  All are welcome to try a class prior to registration.

Irish Solo dancing is sponsored by Harp of Tara but lessons are delivered through the McGrath School of Irish Dance.  Programs are run for all ages and levels of ability.

This music is dance music. All musicians are welcome to play along with the band, while the dancers drive the beat at Harp of Tara's monthly Céilí.
