Bodhrán

The Bodhrán is the heartbeat of Irish music and one of the most eclectic, accessible and fun percussion instruments to learn! In this video, Ruairi Glasheen explores all the skills you need to learn how to play the #bodhran​ including:

In this video I'll take you through hornpipes, and how to play along to them on your bodhrán with three simple but super effective hornpipe patterns. I'll also give you some context on what hornpipes actually are, where they came from, along with some musical and technical tips to help you get to grips with this laid-back style of dance.

Slip jigs are on of my favourite tunes to play on bodhrán, and in addition to learning new patterns in this video, we will also expand on the tonal hand and add ornamentation to our grooves.
